2025 Roger Collins Beacon of Hope Honoree:
Judge Matt Durrett

During UNBROKEN, we honor an outstanding community member for their service to survivors with the Roger Collins Beacon of Hope award. This year, the NWA Center for Sexual Assault proudly honors Judge Matt Durrett for his meaningful impact to survivor safety and pursuit of justice in Northwest Arkansas.
As both Prosecuting Attorney and now Circuit Judge, he has played a key role in improving how our region investigates, prosecutes, and handles cases of sexual assault and abuse. He served on the Arkansas Crime Information Center Supervisory Board, was an active member of both the Washington and Madison Counties Multi-Disciplinary Teams (MDT) and the statewide MDT Oversight Committee, and spent over a decade teaching trial advocacy at the University of Arkansas School of Law. His leadership has strengthened collaboration across agencies, ensuring that survivors receive the protection, accountability, and support they deserve.
2025 Beacon of Light Honoree:
Danna F. Grear, M.D.
This year, we are honoring Dr. Danna Grear with our Beacon of Light Award, in short, because she is a light in our NWA Community. Dr. Grear embodies compassion, advocacy, and healing, in both her professional and person life. She co-founded The Breast Center, went on her own personal journey as a survivor of breast cancer, and demonstrates philanthropic leadership with heart and care. Dr. Grear has created lasting ripples of hope and support for survivors and for the Northwest Arkansas community as a whole.
Dr. Grear has been engaged in the Northwest Arkansas community, educating the community about breast cancer and assisting with fundraising for various organizations. Dr. Grear served on the Susan G Komen Ozark Board of Directors from 2012 to 2020. Additionally, she assisted the Washington Regional Medical Foundation with their efforts to raise funds for the Cancer Support Home and their services.
Even in retirement, she and her husband, Dr. Tim Grear, have intentionally directed their giving toward survivor services, including the NWA Center for Sexual Assault. That ongoing commitment ensures survivors in our region have access to critical resources and a community that believes them.
2025 Silence Breaker Award:
Tenisha Gist and Carl Dunn
Carl and Tenisha have advocated for survivors by serving on our Let’s Talk NWA steering committee since its beginnings in 2014–2015, directly contributing to its early vision, planning, and outreach. Over the years, they have supported community events, Juneteenth activities, and efforts to broaden participation in the initiative. Their continued engagement has helped strengthen Let’s Talk NWA’s mission of awareness, advocacy, and community empowerment, critical resources and a community that believes them.
We are so proud to recognize and honor Tenisha Gist and Carl Dunn as Silence Breakers for survivors. Thank you both!
